My source tells me that the 85 Scirocco has the following.... 1780cc CIS FI 90@5500 rpm HP 100@3000 rpm Torque 3.19x3.40 Bore & Stroke 8.5:1 Compression 28@2000 rpm Oil pressure Manual drivtrain Electronic ignition Compression should be between 123-174 psi The engine code should be a JH, if not let me know what it is and I'll tell you what you have. Don't sweat the mechanical drivetrain. I have hydraulic valves from an 86 GTI in my van and have been told by a few VW guru's to watch the oil pressure down the road as the hydraulic valve trains tend to develop pressure problems sometimes. Isn't that serious in a passenger car, but you want reliable pressure in a vehicle this size. Still, I've had no trouble yet. Also down't sweat the lower HP rating, you won't be driving at 5500 rpm very often. The torque figure looks pretty good at 3000 rpm. I have some other figures for that engine like timing, plug gap, ect.... if you need them. _______________________ Erik O Akron, Oh 82 GTI Westfalia http://ebyte.com/gl http://ebyte.com/wow |
