Hi Dave I have been experiencing the same problems. On a recent trip to the visit the old in laws my sliding door just kept unlatching. At the time I put it down to roadwork's flexing the Van and unlatching the door. Then I realized just how sturdy these Vans are. With my door I was able to notice it because the side light came on when it uncaught. You know the light that comes on when the side door is open. I have the Dealers look at it when I got back. They greased the track and said all ok. Lasted about 1 week. What I did notice is that the door is not sitting flush with the body. The rear edge is protruding only very slightly out from the rear of the door frame. This to me suggests that the spring mechanisms may be faulty. Any info. would be greatly appreciated. Would you post me your replies. Ray. Ray. Dave Stratton wrote: > I seem to have a problem again. The sliding door on my 87 Vanagon has > decided it doesn't want to latch properly.
