Thanks to everyone who responded advising me to remove the tank for cleaning and painting. It was quite easy to get out from under there. Now there is another problem. Seems like the tank is pretty badly rusted especially where the data plate "was" welded on. I say "was" as the welds had broken or rusted and the rust corosion under this plate has taken away quite a bit of metal and the metal of the tank is definiely thinner in this area. I'm taking it to a local propane outfit today or tomorrow to get his opion but I'm sure he'll tell me to replace the tank which leads me to my next question. Where does one find a "good" deal on a propane tank for a "87 Westy ? The never ending story of Westy renovations ! Cheers Frank
