In my new Haynes, STARTER MOTOR REMOVAL AND REFITTING "1. Jack up the rear of the vehicle. 2. Disconnect battery negative terminal. 3. Although not essential, it will improve access if the right-hand driveshaft is disconnected to the transmission. 4. Working under the rear right-hand side of the vehicle, make a note of the wiring connections at the solenoid and disconnect them. If the wiring harness is secured to the starter motor or solenoid body with a clip or retaining band, release it and move the wiring harness aside. 5. Undo the two nuts securing the starter motor to the clutch housing and withdraw the starter motor from its location (SEE ILLUSTRATION). Access to the upper bolt is easier from above. 6.Refitting is the reverse sequence to removal." The line drawing are clear. A nut and bolt on top, and a nut on the bottom secures the starter.
