We live in Cincinnati, Ohio. The van's clutch was replaced in Flagstaff, a couple of years ago, after it burned out on the south rim of the Grand Canyon. It's a good thing our son had an AAA gold card on him for the tow to Flagstaff! That was a two-hundred dollar tow! And I came to my decision on the transmission. I ordered a rebuilt manual from The VW Parts Place in Auburn Hills Michigan (248-373-2300), and had it shipped to the dealer where the vehicle is right now. I figgered it's worth keeping the van taken care of since I don't know when VW will offer another pop-top and nobody in Cincinnati is going to sell Eurovans anyway. Plus the suckers will go for close to forty-grand anyway. Regards! Valerie Chandler |
