Started to replace the upper control arm on Smoky. Tom said if the ball joint was loose, the bushings were probably shot also. So, Smoky is sitting high with the tie rod disconnected so I can get at the ball joint retaining nut. My shiny new Haynes manual is still being stored somewhere by Canada Post so I am appealing for help once again. Are there any tricks to getting those nuts loose? I have a 19mm socket that fits the shaft nut but there isn't a lot of room to swing a wrench under the body. There is no way to get a socket on the ball nut unless I remove the brake line. I will have to buy a ring spanner (box-end wrench) to get at the nut. The size is larger than 21mm and smaller than 25mm. Anyone know the size? As always, advice and information much appreciated.
