Peter, Howdy! Slick 50 is mostly marketing. I bought one of the first bottles (It is made and packaged here in the Houston TX area) in 1987 and used it for years. Two Points I can personally relate: 1) Folks over the years have said you can run your engine without oil once treated w/S-50, I personally had a Distributor (it was once sold mult-level like Avon) who's oil press guage read zero in the middle of the Nevada Desert in his Van, and that he drove another 125 Miles to the nearest town with a mechanic asking for a new oil pump only, he says the oil pump was confirmed as failed and replaced it only with no damage to engine. -My- oil pump failed on my Slick-50 treated 83 Toyota 4x4 truck on the freeway in San Diego, and spun every bearing on the crank: Total engine failure. It was cnfirmed to be oil pump failure. 2) DuPont corp holds the patents on Teflon, S-50's active ingredient and published a letter a few years back stating that for Teflon to stick to metal, the metal must be heated to around 970 deg F. - Nowhere in your engine does it get half that hot (maybe the exhaust valve, but little oil gets on that dude). Theres my data. Take it or toss it. ><> ><> ><> ><> ><> ><> ><> ><> ><> ><> Shalom Mark B. Magee 82 Diesel Westy 87GL 96 Suzuki 4WD Sport Kemah TX USA John 14:6
