Actually, you can easily (maybe not the best word) access the EV fuel pump
from within the vehicle.  The carpet in the rear area between the
front seats is perforated so that it tears neatly.  The resultant flap
is lifted up and there is an access panel that can be removed right where the
fuel pump is located.  I hope to never have to do it, but at least the tank
does not have to be dropped.

Does anyone know if the same fuel pump is shared by another VW or Audi model?
