I too, would like any advise at all concerning the VW head leak issue. I've read just about everything on the various web pages concerning this, but haven't heard anything lately concerning specific experiences.

I've got a 1987 Westy Syncro based near Princeton, NJ, with approximately 126,000 miles on the odometer. The VW computer records stated that the first owner got a new engine at 40,000 miles (don't know what blew but they got a new engine!) from VW service. That leaves (quick, do the math...) 86,000 miles on this engine.

I have had a persistent problem with an oil like leak from what appears to be the heads since I owned the van. After the engine is warm, when I shut it down, it leaks a small amount of fluid, leaving a 2-3" diameter spot on the road or driveway. The oil level moves lower very slowly, and the coolant seems OK, but obviously I'm worried.

Sorry for such a poor description, and I appreciate any advice as to what to do.
