I have just switched from an '87 Vanagon Westfalia Syncro to a '95 Eurovan
Camper.  I agree they present a very different feel.  The Vanagon felt
light, even frisky.  The Eurovan is heavy, slow.  I am not sorry I
switched.  I am no mechanic and think (hope?) I will have fewer worries
over the next 10 years with the '95 EVC than I would have had with the '87
