Subject: Need FI harness for 87

While doing some routine maintenance on my 87 camper, I noticed a burned spot on the main fi wiring harness- the one that goes to the injectors, ECU, idle box, etc. I cut a small hole in the wrapping and discovered that the whole harness was partiallly fried and melted together, with several bare wires visible. I cut further, thinking I'd just splice the bad wires, but it turned out that the damage extended through a goodly portion of the harness and is such a mess that splicing would be a nightmare. This doesn't appear recent-I think it's been like this for a while and I was just lucky that no fatal shorts occurred. Now that I've disturbed it , I'm afraid to even try to start it for fear that I may REALLY fry it. I looked for a cause and found it- a huge mouse nest by the idle box behind the right tailight. (The PO had let it sit a long time).

To my excruciating disgust, I've been parting out an 86 syncro but, not thinking I'd use that harness, I've cut it a few times. I'd prefer to find an intact harness somewhere, but if I can't I can probably splice the 86 harness back up. So, anybody parting out an 86 or later van and have that harness intact? I suspect getting the old one out is going to be tough.

A couple of questions for those who may know- is this harness the same on

campers and non-campers, syncros and non-syncros (seems to be, but I'm never sure about this stuff)? The van I've been parting is an 86 syncro van while the vehicle with the fried harness is an 87 camper. TIA for any help or advice.
