Felix,

It is probably the ventalation system in the tank. I have tried to draw a cross section of the tank below. The top of the tank dips down in the middle of the tank. Because of this it needs a hose to connect the 2 sides to let air flow between the 2 sides of the tank. The hose connects to 2 plastic 'T's that are plugged into gromments on each side. (The "+" on the tank is the gromment) The stem of the T plugs into the gromment to connect to the tank. One side of the T goes to what I think is the charcoal filter, and the other side is the hose that connects the 2 sides. As I said, The stem of the T plugs into the gromment to connect to the tank.

to charcoal filter <--+----------------------+--> to charcoal filter | | +-----+-----+ +-----+-----+ |///////////|__________|///////////| |//////////////////////////////////|===== filler pipe |//////////////////////////////////| |//////////////////////////////////| +----------------------------------+

Your problem is probably with part of this system. Either 1 of the 3 hoses is leaking, one of the 'T's has broken, or one of the 'T's has pulled out of the grommet.
