Fred

I am now looking at the letter I received from VW Australia. Noticed an interesting thing it does not have a date on it. The Year Models are exactly as quoted 1990 to 1991 s in original text. Looking at the address and just above my name VW quotes my VIN. I had just previously purchased the Van and transferred it to my name that how they come to send me the letter. On reading your text I remembered something about they placed a recall sticker on the front bulkhead so I had look and took down the following info.

I am a Richard Cranium. The work on my Van was done on the 22 September 1995 and not 1996 as previously stated. An interesting item on the sticker is they quote Recall Code 20FE. This may mean something to someone or it may be just a VW Australia code. The sticker was definitely placed there by the dealer doing the work.

The point about the recall on your 87 may be that the PO received the recall and had the work done. So therefore you do not qualify for the replacement as it had already been carried out. Just a thought.

Steve Overmyer from the Blue Mountains here in Oz also had a recall. I do not know exactly what year model van he has but I believe it is an earlier model that the 90- 91. As I said in my original message I believe they no'a tell'a us'a the full story.

Ray.
