You'll find some wonderful spots to camp. It can really be done on the cheap if you're self-sufficient ie porta potty :).

Shops/dealers are scarce when it comes to VW. there's just not alot of them around, particularly Vanagons. On the west coast there's M & F Motors in Stephenville. As you go north everything gets scarce. Helps to have some spare parts, tools, etc. and a good roadside assistance membership to get you back to civilization. yes you'll find mechanics but they probably never worked on a VW before.

The west coast is beautiful. I was fortunate enough to work/play there for 5 whole months last year and hope to get there again this year. I live on the east coast myself.

Last year was the 500 year discovery celebration by the English. Next year will be the 1000 year discovery celebration by the Vikings. Yes, we were discovered twice but the Vikings forgot to tell anybody about it :)
