"How To Understand, Service, and Modify Bosch Fuel Injection and Engine Management" by Charles O. Probst.

Excellent book. Published by Bentley.

Available thru my bookstore, see http://www.type2.com/bartnik/myvan.htm and click on "bookstore"

Well worth it, explains theory and how the system works and provides some general testing procedures (I would advise getting the Haynes for wasserboxers or the Vanagon Bentley for precise Vanagon-specific specifications).
