Sounds interesting. We measured again tonight and it looks like the 30x9.5" would be the limit. The biggest tire that can go in the spare tire well is 27.5" so a bit of grinding would solve that really quickly. I want to get the BFG 215/70 16" and that is 28.0" but they are listed but not in production yet according to two tire stores in town. The smallest 16" would be a 225/70 and that is 28.5".... looks like this is what I'll be getting.

My theory on for gravel roads would be to put the mis-matched tire on the rear and lock the differential. Unless I run over a nail or something on the highway I doubt if I will get a flat. If I do then CAA to the rescue with a flat bed!

Yes, fix-a-flat looks pretty good at this time too! > >Final point, since I like Yokohamas, Yoko F742, 8 ply heavy lugged, in >7.00R15 is about 29.4" diam. Tall and skinny is what I am looking for, but 16" is not the best size to get tires in.
