A couple of weeks ago, I posted a few messages concerning problems accelerating at green lights when engine is hot and particularly after longer waiting time period at the light . My mechanic look at everything suggested by the list (from timing to O2 sensor and even cleaned all grounds ) but the van would still misbehave ( no power). He finally found the culprit : the 35 volts 22 microfarad tantalum capacitor installed in the airflow meter harness ( the original capacitor is a 10 volts but on my van I had replaced the 10 volts with a 35 volts) My van is equipped with the modified air-flow meter harness which solves misfire in the vanagon after extended highway driving. But for some reasons, I had replaced the 10 volts tantalum capacitor found in the harness by a 35 Volts tantalum capacitor because I still could feel hesitations from the engine, at times, on highway with the 10 volts. I was told that the 22 microfarad 35 v. (there were no 25 volts available which is the one suggested by many listees) could simply handle more resistance and would work fine. Well it did not. After cutting one of the leg of the capacitor, the van ran perfectly and still does since then. It actually never runnned better. So I went to my electronic shop and bought the supposedly correct part, that is a 25 volts 22 micro.capacitor, which I planned to solder back in place of the 35 volts. Hope this will help the fellow who posted a similar problem with his van recently. I still don't quite understand though why the 35 volts didn't work.
