Probably true. Do keep in mind that a Vanagon is a VAN (VW calls some of them Multi-van), a Chrysler is a MINI-VAN. Since I used to own a Chrysler (they sell very well in Europe) I know the difference, and so will your passengers. I must admit that I did like the car. For an American car it did quite well, with a top speed of about 115 mph the roadholding was remarkebly good. However, you may not know that over here Renault introduced a minivan around 1983 or so (several years before Chrysler built the Voyager). This car is called the Espace and is still in production. It is a very nice car. Most body panels are made of PVC while the chassis is entirely galvanised. The basic dimensions are similar to the Voyager (and thus it is smaller than a VW). It is not cheap though, neither are the Chryslers over here. A Voyager costs $30 to 40,000.
