On the side, my wife and I drove down through most of the western states in early '90 with our Jetta Carat with DRL's. It was quite funny...about every block in cities someone would yell at us to turn off our lights or remind us we had 'em on. I appreciate them in our climate as Kelly also eluded to and wish my other cars including the Westy had them. Next time a charcoal coloured car emerges out of a heat mirage in your lane at a high rate of knots you'll wish every one had them too.
