Hi y'all.. I just added a little freon R-12 to my A/C, as it's starting to get hot here in Tennessee. It just wasn't putting out the cool like last Summer. I added just enough (about 1.5 lbs) to just about fill up the little sight glass on the drier under the rear driver wheel well. Problem is, it's cooling great, but when I move the temp level knob to cooler, the 2nd stage radiator fan comes on, and won't go off till I turn the knob all the way to almost off.. In the morning, it starts off okay, with just the first stage fan coming on with the clutch engagement on the compressor. This is as I think it should be... But once it heats up, the fan goes to second stage, and just stays there..... Did I add too much freon? (the glass isn't totally clear so it shouldn't be too full). The fan worked just fine until this, and the A/C was okay last year, after a major A/C overhaul. Those of you familiar with the second stage fan hum and vibration know that it's not pleasant to be driving along with that thing whirring! Any ideas? |
