I have a custom fabricated bumper attachment, a tow bar purchased from U-Haul, and trailer lights that I used to tow a 91 Carat (4 speed) from Minneapolis to Philadelphia last Thanksgiving week. Interestingly, this is the same van that is in need of a reasonably priced rear bumper, according to today's posting. It is apparent that the tow did no harm to it at all. If in doubt, ask the current owner, for whom the then newly purchased van was towed. The towing set up worked perfectly, towed behind a 1/2 ton Chev pick up. I ran at 65-70 mph with no problems of any sort. In my opinion, there is no difficulty in towing a manual transmission, two wheel drive van any distance. Just be sure to have it in neutral and keep the key in the ignition turned just enough so that the steering column lock is disengaged. Please contact me directly for details.
