If you have the modified wiring harness to the air flow meter, you do not need to add the capacitor. You should not have both installed. The capacitor is a cheapie fix if you don't want to fork out the $ for the VW harness. Both of these modifications are to correct stumbling at constant speeds--they are not meant to fix the problem you are describing.
