Volks,

I thought, even though there is no VW content in this message, that the Vanagon@VANAGON.COM list would be the most appropriate place to ask this. Besides, it's Friday. :)

Many musicians and bands, as a break from playing gigs in dingy, musty, smoke-filled bars, love to throw generator parties in the great outdoors, miles from nowhere. Playing outdoors is like no other experience, even (especially) for post-punk bands.

However, generators are a dirty, noisy, and often dangerous hassle. Has any one of you Westy users had experience with the Galaxy Audio Far-Outlet, or an equivalent device? It's the large battery with 60Hz, 120VAC outlets on it. I'm mostly concerned with the fact that they look awfully small in the ads, and a consistent 750-watt draw might mean either playing for all of a half hour, or getting several of those things to split the load- pretty expensive.

Some of you, by chance, MIGHT have had experience with one of these while camping. I know this is a long shot, but PLEASE answer. The prospect of using one of these is attractive, and they ARE marketed toward musicians, but I've gotta approach this with caution and get as many useful opinions as possible.

Thanks for your time and patience. Please email me personally with your responses, to keep this from becoming a list thread.

Thanks! Sam
