Charles,

Towing a Vanagon on two wheels that far is unadvisable, particularly if you have an automatic transmission (the bearings will wear out). I would call U-Haul, Ryder, or whoever has a good deal on a trailer that you can use. The expense is not that bad, in proportion to the cost of the van. I had the willies towing mine 11 miles once- the limit is 20. ~:(
