Subject: tire size/gear ratio spreadsheet!

Hi All,

I did a spreadsheet for checking mph vs. RPM for various trannies, tires etc. Yours for the asking. It is in QuatroPro6.0 but any spread sheet will suck it in fine. I found the gear ratios etc. for the vanagon and put that data at the bottom. Set for my Syncro right now, just edit as needed.

It takes tire size, ie. 195, tire section /75 and rim /14 and calculates diameter, then uses R&P ratio and individual gear ratios to work out speed/RPM in each gear. Great for piddling about. If someone would like a copy feel free, it's to be distributed freely also, and if you have any additional info please add it and send me a copy, ditto with corrections. Perhaps it/updates could have a home on vanagon.com website since this topic comes up often?

bye, Tim

'87 Syncro Westy on 235/75/15 tires works out to 124MPH at redline, fat chance :)
