Yes definitely (the filter is full of the old oil) , and when you put a new filter on rub a little bit of clean oil on the sealing ring of the new filter before you screw it in. [though it would be a real pain in the neck (to say the least) to put on a new filter after you already changed the oil] You should pick up a Haynes manual. I just got mine it's great!! A hell of alot more user friendly then the expensive Bentley manual ($60 ++) ! Though i would recommend having both. I believe you can get the Haynes manual for $24.95 through the Bus Depot (http://www.busdepot.com). -Chris 87 Syncro GL
