Chris, Tim G, all -- You might want to check the archives on this subject. There was some discussion regarding silicone recently (past three months?) Apparently the silicone eats metal, or the gasket, or something). I recall the auto glass guy at the glass shop I worked at years ago used some black, gooey stuff (note the use of highly technical jargon) - might haver been butyl sealant or something like that. If you attempt either, be sure to make your repair on a dry day as you noted, and blast any standing water out with air if possible. Silicone will not stick to any wet surface -- the black stuff might, but I'm not sure...

good luck!, doug
