The 16Vs arn't what you are looking for! Their power is strictly high end and the Vanagon really likes power in the 2500 to 4000 range. I would sooner put a 1.8L 8V in there! The ideal motor is a 2.0L from a 93+ Golf or Jetta (ABA engine code) or from a 2.0L Audi 80 (3E engine code).
