There are several causes of loss of power following an engine rebuild. Here are some possible causes:-

* New piston rings which have not bedded in. They occasionally stick.

* Gunge ( grease, oil etc) fouling the sparkplugs - this can clear itself after a long run

* Dirt in the carburetor - again this can clear on a long run with the occasional 'foot to the floor'

Another cause could be a loose connection on the distributor or other ignition part. Check that the wires are secure.

If the work was done by a garage - report the fault and get an undertaking from them to repair if it has not disappeared by say 1000 miles.

I have all sorts of occasional misfires, clutch judder/slip with 'Pooh' my 1981 Holdsworth Villa van. It goes top speed 55-60 mph which is slow enough to enjoy the views. You can see 'Pooh' at my new website http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~mpages/

Don't forget to change the oil after 300 miles. The engine will thank you for it!

Good luck.
