I would recommend Michelin MX4 RainForce tires, I have a new set of
205/70's on my 87 (with alloys) and they are great.  They were pretty
expensive, but I think it was worth it.  They are H rated tires, the
MXV4 is a similar tire with a V speed rating, but I didn't think I'd
need a V rating on a Vanagon.
