My most paranoid diagnosis is (1) the whinning/wavering noise is either the transmission mainshaft bearing or the 3/4 slider hub (because it seems to only make this noise in 4th gear...over 50 mph); and (2) the rumbling/reverberating that occurs during accelleration and under load and at a lower RPM than the other noise is a right rear cv joint. A little "knowledge" and a lot of fear...hope I'm wrong on (1).
