Date: Wed, 13 May 1998 14:08:28 -0700 From: Sam Scholten <vwvanagon@YAHOO.COM> I had my a/c retro'd last year. All my hoses were in good shape, so none were replaced. My compressor had been leaking for some time, so it got swapped out. The other item that needs to be replaced is the dryer, in the left front wheel well (on mine, anyway). Had my mechanic suck out what was left of the old gas, put in the new oil and gas, and it worked great. I did get a bit concerned when my a/c switch gave up the ghost, couple months when I couldn't run it, but so far it still blows cold. Unless you have problems with a leaking hose somewhere, the swap really isn't that difficult.

Volks,

Does anybody know of a retrofit for Vanagons before '86? I struck out looking...
