180 Degrees F is normal oil temp. Oil breaks down at 212F. On an aircooled motor if temp is higher than normal check to make sure the engine compartment is sealed hot air from the cylinders should not be entering the engine compartment. You need fresh air from the side scoups. Improper timing or fuel mixture can also cause excessive oil temp. Gene Berg has excellent info in his parts cat. on cause and cure of overheating.
