I actually had a lady in Chattanooga, TN at the local Midas shop comment how peppy my '81 Jetta diesel is compared to non-turbo Benz diesels. Actually I can't pinpoint the reason for it but my Jetta is more peppier than any other VW diesel I have ever driven (just as much zip as my parents '86 turbo- diesel). I thought it was the motor but when I had it replaced with a rebuilt one (I blew the first one up OK?) it was just as zippy. I have driven a few of the Naturally Aspirated Benz diesels and they are dogs. It is not the motor but just the heavy car it has to drag around. The turbo- diesel Benzes are nice though but I still like the VWs better 'cause you don't have to worry about people stealing them and they are a heck of a lot cheaper to buy parts for and keep maintained. Thats my 2 bits. Ken Wilford John 3:16 |
