Subject: Replacing Lifters
Comments: To: vanagon@vanagon.com

Does anyone know how to replace a lifter without removing the head? Bently says its possible, but doesn't say how? Do you fish the lifter out through the pushrod tube? Or, remove the pushrod tube and replace with a telescoping one?

Before we start into another discussion of ATF and Marvel Mystery Oil, let me say that this is a defective lifter that has given intermittant trouble since the day I installed it.

Any tips on identifying which lifter is bad? I assume that if I catch it while it is acting up, I can find the one valve that seems to need adjustment, but I haven't tried yet.

Bill
