Start with a foaming engine degreaser, then hose it off. Great for finding leaks since you're starting with a clean "slate." >>

Here in the beautiful south, and in some other areas of the country, there are "wand washes", with stalls and pressure washers. Many have a setting for degreasing goo. I find these invaluable for keeping the underside immaculate, and for locating undercoating that no longer wants to see the world as part of our van.
