That clutch setup is from a Jetta or Golf.  They use a tottaly different setup
than the Vanagons with a rod that slides inside the input shaft that presses
against a plate which pushes the pressure plate which disengages the clutch.
It is a nice setup in that there is no pilot bearing the the Throw out bearing
is on the other end of the rod and can be removed and replaced via a small
access panel on the transmission (you don't have to drop the tranny!)  You
just have to transplant your Vanagon diesel flywheel onto the new motor along
with the pressure plate and clutch disk (if they are still good).  I am doing
a swap too but to a gas motor.  I couldn't afford one of those nice turbo
diesels or I would have gone that way.  I think you will have to adapt the
rear motor mount to allow for the turbo or maybe just for the exhaust.
