I don't know how many miles a VW diesel engine can last, but I know that a properly tuned and maintained mercedes diesel will last for over 1 million miles. If I could swap that motor into my van, especially the newer TD's that mercedes is making, my van would haul but! It is a big motor. a 3.0L 5cyl diesel is big. I don't really see it fitting in the area where it would go, but who says we can't dream.
