You should go Turbo-diesel then.  I know what one of those can do, as my
turbo-diesel rabbit pick-up towed my newly aquired diesel vanagon from
Philly to Cleveland a couple of months ago.  Never saw any wheelchairs, but
then my speed never dropped below 40 mph on the PA turnpike (and there's a
lot of hills on that sucker!)  And I still averaged 28 or 29 mpg.  :-)
