True the VW motor is great, but you must understand that a rabbit weighs next to nothing. A mercedes 300sd weighs a little over 2 tons. The durability and ruggedness of the engine is much better and it is designed for the long haul. The size of the oil filter totallly indicates this, as well as the oil capacity. It's something like 8 quarts. For a 3 liter diesel 120hp and I'm not sure how much torque is pretty impressive.
