Okay, that's a pretty inflamatory statement, but I'd have to ditto Steve in concept: they should be at least scorned.

I would extend the scorn to dissassembly/crushing of any "decent condition" Type II or Vanagon. They aren't super rare like Porsche 356 Speedsters, but they WILL BE if everyone keeps crushing them and ripping them apart for $$$.

Attrition (rust, accident, etc.) takes enough off the road already. Every Van that is crushed or dissassembled is one less chance to serve a new happy VW owner, or one less chance to replace your wrecked van.

Take the time to find a happy home for the puppy, don't roast it for dinner.
