To one-n-all:

This is the second and final chapter in my short saga attempting to deposit a non-US check (approx. $14 US) with our bank. In the last episode, the bank returned the check and graciously fined me what appeared to be $19 US.

It's amazing what you can accomplish when you can talk to a human being in person (as opposed to a 'distant' [literally & figuratively] voice over the phone). My bank (according to the bank manager, whom I had a pleasant talk with) will accept for deposit checks from practically any country drawn up against any recognized currency ... they'll even accept a non-US currency cash deposit. There is no special charge for this service.

So, if our non-US listees want to send donations and DO NOT want to incur the expense of purchasing an International Money Order, etc., etc., your personal checks ought to work.

Cheers, Chris vanagon list admin (1/2) & keeper of the list coffer
