I believe this only a problem on Syncros. I do not remember seeing this under any of the 2wd trannies in the Bentley technical data charts. 4 speeds that were sold in the US do not have the extended front bit on the tranny (where the low gear and its idler and the like are housed) and this is where most of the 1.5 quarts sits I believe. I don't have any experience with 2wd trannies so reread your Bentley to verify that one cannot drain all the fluid from the 2wd tranny (one could also measure how much gear oil comes out of their 2wd tranny if the seals are good to check to see if 1.5 quarts is really not coming out).

You could suck it out, but you still will not get all of it in the syncro tranny.
