I can't agree more. I've been through the various BC/Wash borders probably 250+ times both recreationally and commercially. If you under-declare $ amounts be prepared to be nailed, drawn and quatered. The few $'s in duty/taxes you may pay more than offsets time alone in being pulled aside. Believe me, they have ways of knowing or finding everything out. I've only been pulled aside and searched a dozen or so times as routine spot-checks or maybe they suspected me for something, who knows. Interestingly, I have had one closed-door, 45-minute interview (ie:intarogation) when I brought my GTI across from buying it in the US (San Clamente) as they thought I was under-declaring what I paid for it. Most times when I'm slightly over in my duty-free allowance they just let me go. My $.02 worth, happy border-crossing.
