I have seen three different LED panels in 10+ Vanagon Westies that have passed through my hands. Only one version had the green flame LED you describe. This does appear to be the most common one. Of all these westies I've seen, there were various propane tank problems with almost all of them. Because of this and coversations with propane repairmen, I believe driving with the tank valve open is unwise. There are specific failures which could cause fires wether any of the appliances were in use or not. I have driven long distances with my frig lit and the pilot stayed on ok. I no longer do this after my valve stem leaked ALL of the propane out of the tank while I was driving. My tank is 15 years old. This probably explains most of the tank problems in general. Given a new tank or at least new valves and regulator, I might consider driving while running the frig on gas. Until the new tank I have ordered is installed, I will play it safe.
