Hi,

I had an annnoying little problem the other day which I'm hoping someone can identify for me please.

I started the van (2.1l WBX) in order to allow a work college to get his car out of the workshop where we park and reversed it outside. When I went to drive it back in,it spluttered, nearly stalled then lurched forward.I stopped and could hear the engine revving up and then nearly dying, then repeating this pattern, all without any pressure on the accelerator from me.When I did depress the pedal,it had little effect on this revving/dying cycle except it backfired once or twice as I limped it back inside.

I shut it off, waited a few seconds then re-started.All was back to normal with all of the above symptoms gone.Ran fine on the trip home and has been fine ever since.Turning it off/back on obviously re-set something but I'm curious why it would have got into this funny mood.It has never happened previously.Any suggestions?

Also,at it's last sheduled service, the original front brake pads & the discs were finally replaced after 126,000km (approx 75,000 m). The rear drum/pads are still original. How does that compare with other's experiences?

Thanks for any info,
