I removed the trim from my windows, the seal looks a little looser so I
am going to put 12 gauge black wire, or something similar in it's
place.  Although it may not be necessary, according to my mechanic, who
drives an 86 Syncro, you don't need to put anything in the gap.  He
removed the trim on his windshield a while ago, no problems, he replaced
the rubber on the rest on the side windows with the newer stuff with no
slot.  The slot is almost invisible after the trim is out for a day or
so.  On problem I can see with the wire is I'll need to get aluminum or
copper wire, steel will rust at the ends, the corrosion of the aluminum
or copper would be as bad.  I'll like to find some flexible black
plastic rod of some sort, I'll let you know if I find any.

BTW I painted one of them to see how it would turn out, I used black
satin enamel, it turned out ok, I wouldn't put them back on.  Besides, I
broke two of them taking them out.
