Yes, the VW transporter is a rather long-lived beast, and will soon have been in continuous production for fifty years. The snobs call only their chosen beast a "Transporter" or a "TypeII". I think the DH fellow of SOTO is the worst. Very few of the USA vehicles ever *said* "Transporter" on them, but for Vanagons the change is simple. Just buy the regular badge, VW part # 251 853 689 D. They are about US$30 -- I got one (a different number) for my Doublecab from Canada -- Guildford Motors. I've not seen the badge for the T4 vs. the EuroVan.

The passenger versions have been called cutesie name for a long time in the US, and even in the rest of the world (like "Caravelle"). I remember when VW called them (officially, in the US) the VW "Station Wagon". They also called versions "Microbus", etc.

They are all Transporters.
