if its just your ODO that is not working, you might want to see if it is fixable. My ODO has malfunctioned several times. The axle that the gears spin on shifts laterally and pops out of its retainer. When this happens the little gear teeth don't mesh.

check by looking closely at the ODO digits. If they are not all flush with the speedo faceplate (like the axle the digits rotate on is not in the correct position anymore) then it is probably the same problem i have encountered.

fixing it is simple (i've done it at night with my headlamp). Take the instrument cluster out of the dash (disconnect everything) and remove the cover on the back of the ODO, then just push the axle back into position.

when replacing, make sure you get the trip meter reset shaft through its hole in the clear plastic speedo windo--it flops around a bit.

hope this is the problem with your odo, so you don't have to buy a new one. later, fred
