Well I finally have to get in on this discussion for safety reasons:

Do not drive with the propane on and any flame lit.

You are simply playing too much with fate when you have an open flame in a moving vehicle. Yes, the flame may stay on and there is an automatic shut off at the end of the line. Everything else stays pressurized though. The fridge is constructed to be lit and used in a straight position and yet the car is moving and tilting; so does the flame and anything which is not attached. Think about possible consequences if combustible materials get into the reach of the flame. ("Gee where did that piece of paper go again?, I smell something funny...") Think about the possibilities in accidents: you have fuel and flame already present. Imagine what happens when the car is hit at the wrong spot. Or think about an overturned vehicle with an open flame burning inside. Unfortunately I have attended many accidents. Picture yourself trapped in a damaged vehicle while behind you a little propane fueled flame is eating away.

Fridges have caused fires in stationary use already as have other propane components in campers. The stress of movement only increases the risk. Despite the inconvenience, please shut off the propane when you are driving.
